Sick Boy

Cooper is good at catching colds. Nothing that really slows him down, but enough to disrupt sleep and prevent us from going out in public. I always assume that the Y ladies or the librarians would say, "Are you kidding us? You can't bring him in here snotting and coughing on everyone like that." So, when he is icky, we come home on preschool days and just chill. He apparently enjoys his alone time.

We did have a spell where he woke up one morning already slipping into adrenal crisis with extreme lethargy and vomiting. Unable to keep his stress meds down, a shot was once again necessary, and then he recovered just fine by evening. A relief to know the shot works so well for him, but frustrating because we thought we had this all figured out. We were also able to keep him home and not rush off to the doctor that day, too. They continue to seem to trust our judgment.

Having the shot and then stress doses when sick prevents us from testing his levels for 3 - 4 weeks, so we're behind a bit on knowing what his numbers look like. We were able to get blood work done last Friday and are anxious to hear the results. (Thankful we did - he has yet another head cold!) He has grown a ton! He jumped on the growth chart from not being on it to the 50%! Happy and nervous about that all at the same time.

If you didn't know he had CAH you would think he was your typical three year old boy! Always on the go and a handful! :)

You'll soon have it all figured out. You are doing such a great job with this! And Cooper is one tough kid!
