Birthday Girl, Overnighters, and Rainy Spring Days

I had a great time celebrating my birthday last week with the family! We did dinner the night before and the kids brought (dragged) me my present in bed that morning where they serenaded me with Happy Birthday again! I now have a great camping mattress for our big summer camping plans! Yay!

I sent the kids off to Grandpa and Grandma's for the weekend so I could go on a Women's retreat with my great friends from church. I had a wonderful time at the retreat, the kids "really enjoyed" (Grace's words) their time at the farm, and Tim survived the Relays and a VB tournament. The kids are completely comfortable in the house and even slept well. I don't know if I've said it on here before, but I love that my kids memories of Grandma and Grandpa's house will be the same as mine. I loved staying at the farm. The sounds of the floors and doors, the smells, the "stuff" to do! I can't wait for summer so they can hear the cicadas and frogs! Summer on the farm is awesome!

And, finally, lots of rain this week. The kids made a pillow pile and jumped ALL DAY long into it! So fun to watch and catch on camera!

Day 9 and 10 ... Back to reality

Day 9 was spent hanging out at home, and Day 10 was a church, noodle dinner, birthday party, and an 80 degree - grill out kid of day. All a great time with the family!

Grace was invited to her first birthday party by a little boy from school. Her first skating party at that! And, she did great! One and a half laps around and she was good to go. It's been 18 year since I had a pair of skates on, but I still got it! (As much as I ever did, I guess.) It was too cute to see her playing with her friends from school. One little boy was taking a break with us when he stopped and said, "Hey! You go to my school!" Too fun! And, yes, she is 7 months older.... and a head taller!

Bringing to end a great spring break. Only a few weeks until we open the pool and summer will be here!

More Spring Break 2011... The end is in sight :(

Day 7... The Children's Museum. (with about 1000+ other people) We enjoyed a stroller free (that was weird!) day at the museum in spite of the crowds. We're a bit spoiled being able to go during the school days and have the place nearly to ourselves! We were on a mission to have three more science experiences to get our prize today! We talked with a real paleontologist, saw a movie about the stars, practiced our food groups, and saw slides of germs. You'll remember Fossil Rocko from our last post? Well we found out he is part Crinoid! Very exciting! And, Bumblebee is at the museum right now - he's huge! We were able to visit Roxana and her new baby girl on the way home, too. They grow up so fast! Also, I was finally able to make sense of the political signs on the way home. Now hungry for peanut butter and chocolate and am sure I wouldn't vote for a judge there! Ha!

Day 8: Lunch at Pizza Hut with the History Club founders (I know, right?!), playing at the library, and just catching up around the house. Tim is off as a sponsor for our church's Boy's retreat tonight and maybe some camping for us on the weekend! Come on spring weather! :)
